Editing and Revision


Join us on Saturday, November 11 as Herta Feely guides us in editing and revision
at the recreation center (see below) 10:30 – 12:30

This session/workshop will provide an overview of the editing and revision process, and then provide more detail into various aspects of editing, from developmental editing to copy editing and line editing. Author and editor Herta Feely will explain how to take a first draft and transform it into a final draft. Bring your work with you and participate in an exercise or two.

About the Speaker
Herta B. Feely is a writer and editor (Chrysalis Editorial), who has worked with  writers in a variety of capacities. Her first published novel, Saving Phoebe Murrow was released in September of 2016, Her short stories and memoir have been published in anthologies and literary journals. Feely edited and published the anthology, Confessions: Fact or Fiction? She was awarded the James Jones First Novel Fellowship and an Artist in Literature Fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for a novel in progress. She has also received an award from the American Independent Writers for best published personal essay for a piece on immigration. A graduate of UC Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University, Feely is the co-founder of Safe Kids Worldwide, an organization dedicated to saving children from unintentional injuries, the leading killer of children in the United States. The mother of two sons, Feely lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and cats. (hertafeely.com)
