July Meeting: Lit Mags Aren’t Dead with Meg Eden

Wednesday, July 8, 2015, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Part of building your marketing platform as a writer is growing your list of publications. Yet many publishers won’t publish you without previous publications under your belt. How do you get around this catch-22? By leveraging lit mags!

Join us July 8, 2015, when the award-winning poet Meg Eden presents “Lit Mags Aren’t Dead” to the Montgomery County chapter of the Maryland Writers’ Association. In this session, we’ll talk about what literary magazines are and why it’s important for emerging and established writers to publish through them.

Meg will also present:

  •  A litmag “translation” exercise
  •  Tips on how to get the most out of a lit mag
  •  The secrets to writing a great cover letter to get an editor’s attention

The skills you learn in this session can easily apply to other publication realms, including writing to agents and editors of small book presses. Don’t miss this exciting presentation!
