About the Speaker
Amy S. Hansen writes mostly about science for children, although sometimes she takes a detour into history, and every now and then delves into fiction. One of her favorite parts of the job is solving great mysteries like: Where do bugs go in the winter? How does a refrigerator work? and How can a merry-go-round be used as a water-pump? While doing the research, she’s been known to take apart an old phone and a VCR to look at the insides before writing about them. Amy has published 25 books, with two more coming out any day now. She is the president-elect of the Children’s Book Guild of Washington, DC, and she lives in Greenbelt with her husband and two sons.
